A really old view of la murella. the high point of Mijas. Looking east from the Barrio Santana, it shows the church that was built in 1565 on the site of a Moorish castle from the Arab occupation from 711 to 1492. (Mijas was re-conquered by the Catholic Kings in 1487). Note the bareness of the bluff it sits on and the terraced fields below.
