Pueblo mio, que estas en la colina, tendido como un viejo que se muere.
La pena y el abandono son tu triste compaņia. Pueblo mio, te dejo sin alegria.

In October of 2002 I went back to Spain... more than 30 years after I first arrived in the country and 20 years since I'd last seen the village of Mijas. Changes? You bet!

But I still found areas of the pueblo and people that haven't changed that much. They've been bringing me back each spring and fall since that first visit.

I was fascinated by the differences in the village over the years, so on the second trip over I brought a camera. I then set up this web page to showcase photos from pre-tourist days in Mijas along with ones I had from the 70s as well as the new ones.

People began spreading the word around the village and I started getting comments. A few years ago, however, I stopped adding pictures. Still, each time I came back, there would always be more people mentioning the site. In the fall of 2011, for example, I was having a tapa in a bar when a young Spaniard I'd never seen before came up to me and said "You're the guy who has the web site." I knew it was time to get back to work and update things.

So I've added 'new' pictures that I've found the from the pre-tourist days of Mijas as well as some recent ones which catch up with people and places over the past five or so years.

The 'Changes' section is the first update and I'll be working on the others over the winter of 2011-2012.
